Traveling full-time

We decided to go full-timing about 5 years ago. Always have loved camping & vacationing. We dreaded coming home & going back to work. Started downsizing about 3 yrs ago. It is amazing how much STUFF we have. More than we need. Last June we put our house on the market, within 43 days it was sold. The lady also purchased most of our furniture. Didn't want or need to bring all that oak stuff with us...we had 3 garage sales which our son did. Thank goodness, it was hard seeing all our treasures going to a new home. But it was time for someone else to love them. We moved to a 2 bedroom apt with our son. Hope he finds a job soon. We also have a JRT named Snickers. She's 14 & loves to rv also. We visited New Mexico & finally purchased a 33 ft GKE Excel. Can't wait to pick it up. We exchanged the recliners for some Euro chairs. We are small people. Also having some solar installed. When we go back in June they will put in the hitch. It is hard waiting..but it will be here soon. The end of April we go back to Ky for the Derby & WVA to visit family there also. Till next time...keep those tires rolling

My Daddy said:

"You can learn more by traveling than you can in school." It must be true if your Daddy said it. That's a statement he said while we lived in Waynesboro, Va & took a 2 week trip to Florida in February when my sister & I had to be taken out of school. I was looking forward to being out of school for 2 weeks but then found out I had to do homework..bah hum bug. I don't remember much from that trip besides being able to watch one of the Gemini space shuttles taking off..it was awesome. Then almost becoming an orphan when my parents were fishing on the other side of the lake & we were experiencing a storm. They finally toodled in to find everyone worried while they were catching lots of fish. I think that is the most scared I've ever been.
Another one of our Sunday drives. My Daddy loved to go on Sunday drives. He decided we needed to take a trip to Washington D.C. to see President Kennedy's grave. Out we went driving the few hours drive to DC. What a site it was, people lined up, took us 45 minutes to stand in line before we reached the grave. Daddy waited up on top of the hill while Mom, sister & me stood in line. This was back when it was surrounded by the picket fence & very simple. I liked it then. We went to see the changing of the guards, one of the most solemn ceremonies I've ever seen. Then it was time to come home, but of course Daddy didn't "ask directions" we ended up on the Maryland side & didn't get home till 4 am....until next time..keep those tires rolling!

Spring on its Way

We haven't had a chance to look for a spot for our 5th wheel this week. Howard had to have mouth surgery. His gums have been receding so they did some skin grafts on his upper gums. OUCH! He's doing lots better this time than the last. Hoping our son can get a job soon. Had some rain today with sleet. Sure did come down hard at times. We continue to get ready for full-timing. Going through more stuff. Seems like we have more stuff than we will need. Hope to post some pics soon of the 5th wheel. We took some while we were down there...not much else going on....until next time...keep those tires rolling!

Howard's story

Howard was born in WVA & lived on a farm till he was 18. Then he came to the big city of Louisville, Ky to pursue his education at UEI, Electronic school. He hadn't traveled much do to taking care of the farm. So when I met him I introduced him to camping. When we married we started out with a tent. My Dad had given us stuff to start out with. A few years later we upgraded to a 1963 Serro Scotty. We pulled that little thing everywhere. Camping in Indiana where we lived, towed it to Va. Beach, Florida just to name a few. A few years later with a son in tow, we went to a tent trailer. Our next step was a 18 ft Komfort TT. Then we were camping Havasu with friends. Our next step up was a 26 ft Sierra. We've enjoyed many trips in this Rv also. Now to the present..we just purchased our Full-timing unit. A 33 GKE Excel which we bought at RV Sales in Moriarty, NM. We will pick her up the end of June. In the meantime we will be looking for a place to park till we retire in the fall....until next time, keep those tires rolling!
